If you are not into smoothies (yet!) then you have to try this one. It is creamy and satisfying with hints of vanilla and sweetness. This smoothie reminds me of drinking a fruity sorbet – without all the added sugar. It is the kind of smoothie that will get you hooked on smoothies in general without using any ‘funny’ ingredients. It will leave you feeling invigorated and energized – the perfect way to start off 2014 don’t ya think?
The past few weeks I have been home in Canada and it has been freezing here – even dropping below -30°C at some points! With this frigid weather, the holidays, and everything in between it is no surprise that tons of people around me are getting sick with winter colds. One of the biggest problems with winter and healthy eating is that – let’s get real – it is much harder to eat well during the wintertime. It is difficult to find good quality, organic fresh produce (especially in the great white north). That is why I use 100% frozen fruit in this smoothie – it not only makes this smoothie very creamy but also the fruit is much fresher than those pinkish/green strawberries we see in the grocery store this time of year. There is a common misconception that frozen fruit is not as good for you – but in fact, because the fruit is flash frozen once it is ideal for consumption – it contains all the nutrients that are often lost in the fruit that is picked way before it’s ripe and transported over long distances.
Being home has been a-m-a-z-i-n-g. I have spent great quality time with family, friends and loved ones who I have so dearly missed. My other half was also able to come home with me and we spent our first Christmas together on the same continent (here’s to all the international couples out there!). We ate (lots), drank (lots), went tobogganing, enjoyed being in Toronto and even went to see my favourite musical of all time Les Miserables. We even flew in during the ice storm and safely landed with hardly any delays — how is that for lucky?!
This holiday season and this past year have been unforgettable – I have grown so much as a person, achieved so many of my health goals, became a runner, started this food blog, moved across the world to be with the one I love, and started my Master’s. Here’s to another great, successful year – I am already dreaming up of the many feats I want to enjoy and accomplish this year. Here is to another year filled with happiness, health, and surrounded by the people we love.Let’s make this year our best!
If a brownie and a coconut macaroon made a baby they would taste exactly like this. My friend’s birthday is this week and she invited some people over for a night out! I remembered she loved the combo of chocolate and peanut butter in Reese’s peanut butter cups … so I decided to combine these…
My love for all things sweet and chocolate is no secret. I never say no to dessert and always look forward to the last and *best* course. And that’s probably why most of the recipes of #CearasKitchen are sweet eats. I love dessert and am all for indulging in decadent and rich desserts once in…
Who loves to BBQ?!?! Is that even a question, ha! BBQing is probably one of my favorite activities of Summer. The slow food around the fire with family and friends, the fresh and tasty Salads, the burgers and, of course, the delicious Summer-inspired desserts that always follow thereafter. BBQing as a vegan, believe it or…
This soup is too good to keep all for myself! I think it might even be my best soup yet. It has so much flavour, creamy, and comforting 🙂 As the weather gets colder I love a good soup that has some substance. A soup that is thick, filling and super creamy. This soup fulfills my…
Every day of the week Monday should call for cookies. Thick, fat, chewy and melty chocolate chunk filled cookies with a sprinkle of sea salt on top for good measure. Who agrees?! These Chocolate Chunk Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies are ALL of the above guys PLUS these cookies, like the name says, are made with LOTS…
Tangy and flavorful Peanut Soba Noodles made with crunchy peanuts, thinly sliced colorful veggies and a light, spicy peanut sauce. How spicy you want your soba noodles is up to you…
